Abstract
The longitudinal study on aging for the Korean has been started by the support from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, KOREA. The project is consisted with 7 different projects of study, such as basic study on the longitudinal changes of physical status, genetic changes, food pattern, neuromuscular functions, perceptive and behavioral changes, cardiopulmonary and locomotive capacity as well as the characteristics of the Korean centenarians. The purpose of the present study is to elucidate the longitudinal changes of the Koreans and to identify any characteristic aspects of aging process different from other people, since aging process is deeply associated with the environmental stress, life styles as well as genetic factors. And from the study, it is expected that several promising tools or strategies to intervene or modify the aging process for better health and good quality of life.
